Govindas Restaurant Opens - Dublin's newest pure
vegetarian restaurant opened today in the City Centre. The
eagerly awaited Radha Govindas Vegetarian Restaurant is
located at 83 Middle Abbey Street, just beside Easons, off
O'Connell Street, and is an expansion from the existing
Govindas Vegetarian Restaurant on Aungier Street. The
restaurant caters for a slightly more formal style of
vegetarian dining with its waiter service and fabulous range
of delicious vegetarian cuisine. The restaurant is open from

01/10/04 Radha Govindas: New
Dublin Restaurant - The brand new addition to Govindas
restaurant in Dublin has been confirmed to open Monday
October 18th 2004. Radha Govindas pure vegetarian restaurant
is located in the very heart of the City Centre at 83 Middle
Abbey Street, Dublin 1 (beside Easons, in front of the Luas
line). Renovation is well underway at the moment and it is a
great achievement to have a second devotee restaurant in the
city, especially in such a prominent location.
28/09/04 Govindadwipa
Deity Update - The good news is that the Deity room and
outfit room have been recently beautifully decorated. The
walls are now covered with marble looking plastic, new
curtains on the two windows, new drawers to keep Radha
Govinda's jewellery in and the velvet altar curtains dry
cleaned. The total cost was sterling 2,200. The bad news is
that now the Deity account is empty and there is not the
usual sterling 2000 there which would be spent in India on
cloth for next years new outfits, crowns, oils, etc. Many
thanks for donations received on Janmastami and Radhastami
which brings us halfway to our target of £2000. Sponsor an
outfit or other paraphernalia for Radha Govinda on behalf of
your family or deceased ones.
26/09/04 New Govindadwipa
Guest Rooms - The brand new guest rooms are now open. It
has proved to be a great improvement in our facilities. To
book a room please contact Tim Prabhu by calling 6772 1512
or see the locations section.
23/09/04 Goodbye &
Goodluck to Govindadwipa residents - We have had to say
goodbye to many of our resident pujaris and members of our
community this summer such as Antaranga Sakti dasa,
Icchadhari devi dasi and Vrndavana Candra das, Radhanatha
das, Sukhada and Mukunda, and Giriraja das. It has been hard
to thank them for all the service they have rendered to the
community and directly to Sri Sri Radha Govinda. We have
been inspired by their service attitude and sincerely wish
them all a very successful future. May the blessings of Sri
Sri Radha Govinda be with them all. Hare Krishna! We have
had so many goodbyes, but we have also been lucky enough to
welcome Dharmi and Dina Tarini. They have joined us from the
Czech Republic Farming community; and Bhaktin Alex from
London. Thank you for coming here.
20/09/04 Brenda Campbell
- This is to inform the devotees of the auspicious
passing away of Brenda Campbell, Isani devi dasi's mother on
Monday 20th September at 2.53am. She was always very
favourable to Krishna Consciousness. Her last few days were
spent in almost constant hearing from the scriptures and the
holy name. She left with tulasi in her mouth and dust from
the Holy dhama on her head. We wish her well and pray that
Sri Sri Radha Govinda bestow Their blessings on her. For the
full article by Isani Prabhu, please see the articles
section for the full article by Isanu Prabhu.
19/09/04 Kids Playground
at Govindadwipa - In spring 2004 a group of devotees got
together one Sunday to try to Build a tree house in a day.
The event was sponsored and £250 was raised. We would like
to take this opportunity to extend thanks to all those who
participated in or sponsored this event: all your
contributions were gratefully received and much appreciated.
Special thanks to Aniruddha and Fiona for the recent
erection of two toddler swings for children up to the age of
three years, and four swings for the bigger children. Whats
next? We hope to, paint the existing steel swing frame in
bright colours, add an extension of monkey bars, and have
the area underneath the swings covered with bark mulch. We
would like to fence off the toddler play area, add a slide,
sandpit, a bench or two for parents to comfortably supervise
their kids and to completely bark mulch this area.
Kunjabaharini dd is presently exploring the possibility of
obtaining a grant for the purpose of developing the
playground. If you are interested in contributing to the
growth of Govinda's Garden in any way, or have any questions
or suggestions you can contact Fiona on (028/048) 6772 4208.
14/09/04 Srila Prabhupada
Memorial Garden officially opened at Govindadwipa - The
auspicious occasion of Srila Prabhupada's 108th appearance
day was marked at Govindadwipa with the official opening by
Tulasi Priya Prabhu of a rose garden that the devotees,
headed by Ananda Maya Prabhu, have been working on for some
time now. The beautifully fenced garden is located in front
of the temple building and features a plaque dedicating the
garden to Srila Prabhupada. The roses in the garden were
sponsored my numerous devotees around Ireland, keen to make
an offering to Srila Prabhupada. As Tulasi Priya Prabhu cut
the official ribbon and read from the scroll declaring the
garden open, devotees gathered at the posts around the
garden, taking it in turns to sequentially read one of the
Sanskrit verses praising the guru that were attached to
them. The garden is open daily and should not be missed by
any visitors to Govindadwipa.

18/06/04 A message from
Himavati's Mother - Himavati's mother (Pat) dropped into
Govinda's today and gave us the
following message (written in a card). The card itself
carried the following text: "May the God of strength be with
you, holding you in strong-fingered hands, and may you be a
sacrament of His strength to those whose hands you hold. May
the blessing of strength be upon you." And then Pat's hand
written message was as follows:
"Dear Friends, Helen's (Himavati's) children and I want to
tell you how much all the manifestations of your love for
Helen, particularly during the last weeks of her life, meant
to us. Your presence at her funeral ceremonies, the flowers,
letters and cards were a great comfort, and I thank you all.
I was especially touched by your kindness and generosity in
having a 'whip-round' for the children and your 320 Euro has
gone into a fund to provide them with a much-needed and
deserved holiday. Helen is still very much with us, giving
us strength from day to day. Perhaps you feel that too. I
cannot name you all, but I want to say thank you from the
heart, and I trust we will always be in touch." Yours
sincerely, Pat. (submitted by Praghosa dasa)
17/06/04 Sankirtan News
Update - The sankirtan mission has been continuing and
some books are going out. Especially notable is Parusha's
efforts which is as steady as ever. The van has recently
been in Sligo, Longford and Galway. Last weekend there was a
program in Galway and 11 guests attended. Praghosa prabhu
gave the lecture. Interestingly Dave has met some major
politicians on the streets, campaigning of course for the
elections. He seems to have a knack in giving books to
powerful and influential people. Notably, Gerry Adams the
leader of Sinn Fein, David Trimble the leader of the Ulster
Unionist Party and Dana the Eurovision Song Contest winner
and outgoing MEP. They all received a Science of Self
Realisation. Other good news is that sankirtan is increasing
in Ireland. Devotees doing books at present include Gobhata
prabhu, Sri Rupa, Kalyani, me and the 'new kid on the block'
Somesh prabhu who spent most of his recent holiday
distributing books. He went out with Sri Rupa on the street
and visited the van in Sligo for two days and distributed
door to door with Paurusha. My impression is that he is a
natural preacher and book distribution suits him. I believe
that this trend should be encouraged and anyone with the
slightest desire to do sankirtan should be given all
encouragement and facility. I have some photos I'll send
later. Submitted by Camasa Muni dasa
27/05/04 Himavati Prabhu
passes away - It is with great sorrow and respect that
we announce that at 07:45 this morning Himavati Prabhu
passed away in a hospital in Dublin. She was a devoted
mother and was much beloved by her many friends who will
miss her very much. "The soul was never born. It will never
die. It never grows. It never decays. The soul is the
witness, observing the changes time forces on changeable
things. The soul is consciousness, existing always and in
every situation." Srimad Bhagavatam 11.3.38
14/05/04 Govindadwipa
devotees succeed in environmental health course -
Members of the Govindadwipa Temple in Fermanagh have been
successful in achieving two levels of the Chartered
Institute of Environmental Health's Food Hygiene Accredited
Course. Held over a period from November'03 to January '04,
three courses were delivered in partnership with Fermanagh
Volunteer Bureau and Fermanagh college of Further Education.
Two courses were delivered at Foundation level followed by a
third at Intermediate Level. This course is an
internationally recognised standard to comply with
legislation in preparing and handling foodstuffs, which for
the ISKCON (known as the 'kitchen religion') is very
positive. Congratulations is due to the devotees who
attended classes and completed the examinations, especially
as for several English is not their first language.
Commenting on the standards attached to Vedic cooking, the
tutor was impressed at the way that Srila Prabhupada had
brought such good standards for food preparation to the west
as part of his overall teachings. Submitted by Ananda Maya

magnificent pictures of the deities and the temple area.

download time is a few minutes on very slow connections.

10/03/04 Respected
community member Ganga the cow leaves her body - It is
with the deepest respects and sadness that we inform the
congregation of ISKCON ireland that Ganga has left her body.
At the grand old age of twenty five, this protected servant
of Govinda passed away on the 10th March '04. She went very
quickly although she had been frail for a considerable time.
Ganga was made very comfortable and outlived her more famous
daughter Drupadi and grandson Burfi who was head of the
Bhaktivedanta Manor oxen herd for so many years. She was a
full breed Kerry named in the Kerry herdbook as 'Sneem
Gertie' as she was bred in Sneem Co. Kerry. Ganga left her
body to recorded kirtana, having received maha prasad while
down. Submitted by Ananda Maya devi dasi

initiative from the Vaisnava Support Network: the VSN online
forum. This brand new internet-based discussion group has
been designed so you can communicate with other devotees

fear being judged to share aspects of our belief that we may
question. Registration is not required.
03/02/04 Vaisnava Vedic

Nityananda's Appearance Day, the Calendar section of

02/02/04 Email virus
identified - The virus that has been plaguing many
devotees inboxes over the past week is called 'My Doom'.
It's a new strain of computer virus that arrives as an email
attachment and then duplicates itself by sending emails from
your account. It is very troublesome and may potentially
share your private information with malicious internet
users. Krishna.ie recommends that all our visitors avail of
some form of virus protection software to remain safe from
this problem. Click here to view more details about the My
Doom virus.
28/01/04 Online virus
attack against Hare Krishna Community - Today an online
attack was made against the Hare Krishna Community in the
form of viruses, sent by email to many devotees addresses.
It is as yet unclear as to what these viruses do when
opened, as fortunately most devotees have anti-virus
software installed on their system to combat such risks.
Equally unclear is who is behind such an attack, and how
specifically malicious it is. We would like to caution all
devotees online to obtain virus protection software, as the
risks of virus infection can be great. |
