01-31/12/05 Book Distribution Marathon - December 2005

In the month of December we will be joining an international effort to give Srila Prabhupada’s books out to as many people/shops etc as possible.
All are welcome to join in this endeavour to please Srila Prabhupada. The last seven days before Christmas have proven to be times when people are most open to receiving these books. Please contact your local temple to obtain books for distribution. See the locations section for details.

28/11-4/12/05 Danavir Goswami visits Ireland

Danavir Goswami (Dr. Dane Holtzman) was born in Los Angeles in 1949. He studied sociology and economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While there he excelled in athletics and was selected the Most Valuable Player of 1970 (indoor volleyball) by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and won the international 2-man beach volleyball tournament at Santa Cruz.
On June 11, 1970, he met His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and received initiation from him in February of 1971. Later that year, he was appointed temple president of the Portland, Oregon branch of ISKCON. Then he became the national sales manager for ISKCON’s Spiritual Sky Scented Products Company, until he was asked to institute the world’s first Bhakta Program in October of 1974 at the Los Angeles temple. Under the direction of Srila Prabhupada, Danavir Goswami proceeded to inaugurate Bhakta Programs elsewhere in America, Europe, Africa, India, etc. Presently this comprehensive educational system for new devotees is standard throughout ISKCON.
In 1980, Danavir Goswami inaugurated Friends of Lord Krishna (FOLK), a lay congregational network in the UK, likely the Society’s first. Thereafter he became director of ISKCON Scotland, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Holland and Belgium. In 1987 he was elected to ISKCON’s thirty-man world Governing Body Commission and authorized as an initiating spiritual master.
In 1989 he returned to America to co-direct KrishsnaFest, a national travelling Vedic cultural festival which included music, lectures and multimedia theatre. In the 1990’s he commissioned the establishment of a permanent centre in Osafia, Israel to teach Israeli Druze about Krishna consciousness.
He has earned the Bhakti-sastri and Bhakti-vaibhava degrees from ISKCON and his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Vaisnava Philosophy and Vaisnava Administration in 1996 from the Florida Vedic College. Danavir Goswami has taught courses in five major universities, lectured at over 100 colleges and many diverse religious institutions, and appeared on numerous TV and radio talk shows.
He is the author of Fortunate Souls, His Divine Grace, Change of Heart, Vedic Cosmology, Bright Side, Brain Gain – The Science of Celibacy and Chastity, RVC Prospectus and co-author/editor of Vedic Paradigm, Diksa Diksa, Poison Antidote, Uttama Sloka, If Attacked…I’ll Chant Hare Krishna, Pocket Temple Song Book, and nine volumes of Vaisnava Society Journal.
He currently serves as ISKCON’s Global Director of Monastic Recruitment and Education as well as inaugural president of Rupanuga Vedic College (RVC) in Kansas City, Missouri.

In 1977 His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada departed His body. During His time on this earth He brought Krishna Consciousness to every part of the globe and established the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Many disciples and wellwishers of HH Bhakti Tirtha Maharaja will congregate on the island (see the locations section for directions and contact information) for a wonderful festival in honour of Maharaja.

The schedule will include ecstatic kirtan, viewing footage of Maharaja, workshops on his books by leading disciples as well as remembrances.

The festival will conclude with the installation of Maharajas European pushpa samadhi which will be situated underneath the Krsna Balarama tree just outside the main building.

16/10/05 Dublin Maha Harinama in honour of Tribhuvanatha Prabhu and class by Trivikrama Swami

On Sunday October 16th in Dublin, His Holiness Trivikrama Swami will join with the many other devotees to hold a Maha Harinama in honour of Tribhuvanatha Prabhu.
The Harinama will leave from Radha Govindas Vegetarian Restaurant in Dublin City Centre at 1pm, returning to the currently under renovation Dublin Hare Krishna Cultural Centre for 3pm where there will be a class by Trivikrama Swami, kirtana and prasadam. (See the locations section for directions).

16/10/05 Tribhuvanatha Prabhu's Disappearance

His Grace Tribuvannath Prabhu left his earthly body on the 16th of October 2001. He was an exemplary leader who inspired many with his preaching and touched even more with his personal kindness. Celebrating the anniversary of the installation of the very beautiful Radha Govinda deities on the lake isle of Govindadwipa, County Fermanagh. This is one festival not to be missed.
There will be lots to see and do over the three days which will culminate on the 24th with Sri Sri Radha Govinda's Anniversary including talks by special guest Dina Bandhu Prabhu.

03/07/05 His Holiness Bhakti-tirtha Swami honoured in Ireland

His Holiness Bhakti-tirtha Swami, a guru and Governing Body Commissioner of the worldwide Hare Krishna movement, passed away following complications from melanoma cancer on June 27, 2005, at Gita Nagari, the Krishna community in Pennsylvania. He was 55 years old.
The following two programs will be held on Sunday afternoon July 3rd in honour of this great personality:

25/03/05 Festival of India Organisational Meeting

After the huge success of last year’s Dublin Rathayatra Festival, the Festival of India organisation, a branch of ISKCON, has been set up in Ireland to oversee the running of the popular cultural event. This year we plan to hold two Rathayatras: one in Dublin and one in Belfast.
As we try to improve the profile of Rathayatra to compare with that of other public events and parades such as St Patrick’s Day and the Chinese communities New Years Parade, we ask for the advice and support of all of you who hold the wonderful celebration of Vedic culture that is Jagannatha Rathayatra dear to your heart.
In this mood, we will be holding the first Festival of India committee meeting at the Gaura Purnima festival, taking place this coming Friday March 25th at Govindadwipa in County Fermanagh. Anyone who is attending the festival is invited to participate in the meeting if they have a personal interest in helping Festival of India with its goal of making Rathayatra a greater success than ever before.

25/02/05 - IFAST ayurveda workshop by Patricia

IFAST or the Institute for Applied Spiritual Technology was founded by HH Bhakti Tirtha Swami in order to facilitate the education of the public in authentic spiritual technologies based on bona fide scripture, and to support the constant growth of committed parties. IFAST has a wide range of activities such as meditation, yoga, scriptural study, tai chi / qi gong , vegetarian cookery, martial arts, art , self sufficiency , gardening , personal development , leadership training, councilling / mentorship, relationship harmonising to name but a few! In this spirit, we have humbly started IFAST Ireland which has it's headquarters at Inis Rath Island which is a wonderful retreat center / temple situated in the beautiful lake land known as Lough Erne in County Fermanagh Northern Ireland.
Ayurveda Residential Workshop at Inis Rath Island, Friday 25th- Sunday 27th

Ifast Ireland now has an Ayurvedic consulant Patricia ,who runs the only Ayurveda clinic in Ireland and is an excellent Yoga instructor- see www.ayurvedaireland.com for more details.

We have arranged a residential workshop starting on Friday 25th Febuary and ending on Sunday 27th Febuary at our headquarters at Inis Rath Island. Participants are requested to arrive at the ferry quay ( see the krishna.ie locations section for directions) at 6pm sharp on friday.

Schedule:
The first intro session will be on friday at 7.30pm and there will be ongoing classes all day Saturday including a yoga session and finishing up on sunday by 1pm. Participants will be invited to join in the Sunday programme at the temple which includes a class on the Bhagavad Gita (india's oldest scripture), chanting ancient vedic mantras (kirtan) and a grand finale of a multi course feast prepared by the finest vegetarian cooks in Ireland.

Costs:
The cost is 220 euro per person which includes ferry, accomodation and meals for the whole weekend! A bargain so please book early as spaces are limited to 12 only. The finest Ayurvedic medicines and oils will be available for purchase also.

07/01/05 - IFAST past lives workshop by Jayadeva Prabhu
IFAST or the Institute for Applied Spiritual Technology was founded by HH Bhakti Tirtha Swami in order to facilitate the education of the public in authentic spiritual technologies based on bona fide scripture, and to support the constant growth of committed parties. IFAST has a wide range of activities such as meditation, yoga, scriptural study, tai chi / qi gong , vegetarian cookery, martial arts, art , self sufficiency , gardening , personal development , leadership training, councilling / mentorship, relationship harmonising to name but a few! In this spirit, we have humbly started IFAST Ireland which has it's headquarters at Inis Rath Island which is a wonderful retreat center / temple situated in the beautiful lake land known as Lough Erne in County Fermanagh Northern Ireland.
We kick off in grand style in January 2005 with a weekend residential workshop with John Richardson (Jayadeva das), who will be doing a "Past Lives , The Present and Our Future- Letting Go of The Past and Embracing The Positive" using his talents as a healer and singer, John will take you back to your past and help you release any negative blockages that may be hindering you from maximising your potential. John was a member of the 70's rock group "The Rubettes" and is now a solo artist in his own right for New World Records which is the worlds leading promoter of ambient / meditative music. He is also the father of another famous singer Pia ( Gaurangi dasi ) who also records on the same label. John has his own studio and centre where he works as a healer and makes his amazing music.
Course schedule is as follows:
Friday 7th - Introduction - 8PM, Sat 8th - Breakfast- 9am First session- 10AM- 1PM -- LUNCH -- Second session- 3pm-6pm -- DINNER -- Mantra meditation - 7-8.30PM, Sunday 9TH - Final session- 10am-1pm
There will be an Indian style vegetarian feast and bhakti yoga class as an option from 1pm
Fee including course, meals, and accommodation - £130 / €195
Fee including course, meals (no accommodation) - £65 / €98
Private sessions with John are also available at £25 / €38, be aware that there are limited spaces available for these.
