31/12/04 - New Years Eve Dublin Maha Harinama

As the amazing year that was 2004 draws to a close, devotees will be gathering in Dublin City Centre to join the rest of the city in greeting 2005 in the most auspicious way possible - through the public chanting of the Hare Krishna maha mantra. The harinama party will leave Radha Govindas restaurant on Middle Abbey Street (next door to Easons) at 10:30pm and will move throughout the city centre. We look forward to seeing you all there.

21/12/04 - Gita Jayanti: Advent of the Bhagavad Gita

Gita Jayanti celebrates the auspicious appearance of the Bhagavad-gita. For this festival we endeavour to get the timeless knowledge of the Bhagavad-gita available to all. You can help us by sponsoring one or more Bhagavad-gitas to go into our local libraries (WELB and libraries in Ireland). As Krishna says about the Bhagavad-gita Himself in Chapter 18.68-69: "For one who explains this supreme secret to the devotees, pure devotional service is guaranteed, and at the end he will come back to Me. 01/12/04 December Book Distribution Marathon

In the month of December we will be joining an international effort to give Srila Prabhupada's books out to as many people/shops etc as possible. All are welcome to join in this endeavour to please Srila Prabhupada. The last seven days before Christmas have proven to be times when people are most open to receiving these books. Sri Rupa can be contacted by email on, ronniemurdoch@eircom.net or by phone on (028/048) 6772 1512 for information regarding co-ordinating outings for the purpose of book distribution. He can also be contacted if anyone wishes to purchase books for distribution.

The worship of Govardhana Hill, the hill Lord Sri Krishna lifted in His youth to provide shelter to the local villagers from a huge rainstorm and the cows that are so very dear to Lord Krishna will be celebrated on Sunday November 14th at Govindadwipa. 27/10/04> Kartika: Worship of Lord Damodara for one month

Starting on Wednesday 27th October and running until Friday 26th November devotees of Lord Krishna around Ireland will be celebrating Kartika and offering a candle daily to the image of the very beautiful Baby Krishna. The benefit of all spiritual deeds performed during this month are said to be multiplied by 1,000, and if you are thinking of starting to chant hare krishna, there is no better time. 17/10/04 Tribhuvanatha Prabhu's Disappearance

Govindadwipa Remembrance - We will have a day of remembering and glorifying him on Sunday the 17th of October at Govindadwipa. We will listen to some recorded classes given by Tribuvannath and plenty of chanting. We hope to have some CD recordings and transcribed lectures for you to take away on the day. 16/10/04 Tribhuvanatha Prabhu's Disappearance

Dublin Maha Harinama- His Grace Tribuvannath Prabhu left his earthly body on the 16th of October 2001 to return to Krishna. We feel that the most appropriate way to celebrate his disappearance day is to have a Maha-Harinam on Saturday 16th October in Dublin City (meeting at Govinda's restaurant - 3:30pm). 14/08/04> Irish Vaisnava Youth Reunion 2004 - August 12th and 15th

Gurukulis and other interested youth from all around the world are invited to attend this years reunion, the third and biggest one to date. This years reunion will be held in Dublin alongside Jagannatha Rathayatra 2004 and will include the festivities of that day as well as lots of water-based fun and heaps more. 14/08/04 Dublin Jagannatha Rathayatra 2004

It is with great pleasure that we confirm that Jagannatha Rathayatra 2004 will take place this coming August 14th in Dublin City Centre. Rathayatra 2004 is set to be the biggest Rathayatra that Dublin has ever seen. The Rathayatra parade will take place on the Saturday afternoon, featuring the huge UK Rathayatra cart that is being shipped over especially for the occasion. Their Lordships Jagannatha, Subhadra and Baladeva will be brought through the city by the many devotees pulling the ropes of the wooden chariot, which has no power other than that of the devotees who invite Lord Jagannatha forward. The day will culminate in in a cultural evening at the highly prestigious venue of Dublin's City Hall, where their Lordships, the devotees and the numerous guests will be invited in for an evening of music, drama, philosophy and lots more. All the booking have been made and there is a huge amount of work to do in order for this even to be a success, what to speak of the financial costs of hosting such an event. 25/07/04 Govindadwipa Open Day 2004

The devotees of Govindadwipa, Inisrath Island Co Fermanagh will be hosting this years Open Day on Sunday July 25th. Everyone is invited to come along with their family and friends to this years cultural day which sees the Hare Krishna temple and community once more completely open to members of the public. The day will feature philosophy, entertainment and magnificent pure vegetarian food for all. Hope to see you all for a wonderful day of entertainment!

24/06/04> His Grace Pankajanghri Prabhu visits Ireland

I am happy to announce the arrival of His Grace Pankajanghri prabhu in Ireland next Thursday (24th June). He'll be in Belfast on the Friday and Saturday. (Harinam in Belfast on Satuday the 26th). Then he'll give his good association on Govindadwipa on Sunday 27th and Monday. He flys to Wales on the Tuesday from Dublin. Pankajanghri prabhu and his twin brother Jananivas prabhu are, as many of you know, very famous in ISKCON for their devotion and dedication and 30 years service to the temple Deities in ISKCON Mayapur, India. They're very highly regarded as serious and sincere devotees. Jananivas has taken a vow not to leave Mayapur, but (fortunately for us) his brother hasn't. Pankajanghri prabhu will tell us the Lila of Panca Tattva, Lord Jagannatha and Lord Narasimhadeva...he has many amazing stories of present-day lila, as well as sastric lila. 30/04/04 BBC Music Live: Indo-European Fusion

At the Lake Isle of Inish Rath, Upper L. Erne, Co. Fermanagh. An unforgettable evening of culture descends on Upper L. Erne on Friday April 30th. As part of the BBC Music Live festival the Hare Krishna Community on Inish Rath Island host 'Indo-European Fusion'. This fusion is a recital of the temple music of India by European performers. They present an enlivening variety of styles from the slow and maditative to fast foot-tapping beats with elaborate drum rhythms.

Ferry crossings to island begin from 7.30pm and at 10 min. intervals until 8.10pm. Programme starts at 8.00pm, and the audience is treated to musical delights until 9.40pm. 06/04/04 H.H. Smita-Krishna Swami visits Ireland

ISKCON Ireland is delighted to welcome His Holiness Smita-Krishna Swami, who will be arriving in Ireland on Tuesday April 6th and staying until Monday April 12th. He will spend Wednesday and Thursday in Belfast and on Saturday & Sunday will host counselling and co-counselling sessions/workshops at Govindadwipa, in the library. 01/04/04 Kamada Ekadasi at Govindadvipa

27/03/04 Gundica Marjanam: Belfast Temple

Saturday the 27th at Belfast Temple was Gundica Marjanam; a performance of the pastime where Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His devotees cleanse the Gundica temple took place. This was very ecstatic. Cleaned took place in the morning followed by readings from Caitanya Caritamrta Madhya Lila Chapter 12. Then prasadam was served followed by chanting and dancing on the streets of Belfast. 26/03/04 Experimental Japa Workshop: Belfast Temple

Friday the 26th of March saw the beginning of an experimental Japa Workshop, overseen by Sri Rupa prabhu. This workshop deals with the focus on eliminating inattention from our Japa by recognising it, on the basis of both scripture and experience, as being the main problem causing our lack of spiritual bliss. Techniques as given in the "Art of Chanting Hare Krsna " by HH Mahanidhi Swami, for improved concentration which mainly involves letting the mind wander to a related area while chanting. Also at the workshop we took a look at recommended prayers in order to chant without offence also suggested in HH Mahanidhi swami's book. Summary of workshop dates: Fri 9th and 23rd April and 7th May.

25/03/04 Darwin Defeated: Belfast Temple Course

The course "Darwin Defeated" by Her Grace Bhagavata devi dasi began on Thursday March 25th and will continue fortnightly. This course was inspired by her daughter Devahuti's encounter with Darwinism in her school. There are hopes to also run the course at Inisrath Govindadwipa and also open it up to audiences outside of ISKCON. It's highly recommended, especially if one has children who are being taught the theory of evolution at school. Summary of course dates: Thurs 8th and 22nd April and 6th May. Everyone is welcome to this grand festival and there's full assurance from all the devotees at Govindadvipa that you'll enjoy it!!!

01/02/04 National Preaching Meeting

The next national preaching meeting will be held at Govindadvipa on Lord Nityananda's Appearance Day, Sunday February 1st. Anyone with any interest in the future of the movement are welcomed to input into the discussion. Part One of the meeting will be at 11:00 am with Part Two commencing at 4:00 pm.

31/01/04 Govindadvipa Action Day for Children's Playground

The work is to start at 9.30 am on Saturday January 31st. All are welcome to attend and participate in weeding etc to clear the way for the upcoming children's playground. Please bring any tools you may have. This is a great opportunity for service to the community on the auspicious weekend of Lord Nityananda's appearance day.

11/01/04 Govindas Vegetarian Cookery Course

The secrets of Govindas vegetarian restaurant on Aungier Street, Dublin are revealed in this four-week course held every Sunday from 3 to 5 pm, starting on January 11th running through the 18th & 25th and ending on February 1st. The class is taught by a highly-experienced mature Indian lady and the cost for the course is €60. 04/01/04 Community Meeting on Children Rescheduled

There will be an open meeting held on Sunday January 4th, instead of December 28th as originally planned. It will start at 1pm sharp and will discuss the wellbeing of children in our movement, so that the views of the wider congregation, especially the children, are considered.
